Foundation stone of the New Judicial Court Complex, Sector 43, Chandigarh

Chandigarh, January 31, 2006.

          Foundation stone of the New Judicial Court Complex, Sector 43, Chandigarh was laid on 31.01.2007 at 04:00 P.M. by Hon’ble Mr. Justice Vijender Jain, the Chief Justice of the Hon’ble High Court of Punjab & Haryana in the presence of H.E.Gen. (Retd.) S.F.Rodrigues, PVSM, VSM, Governor of Punjab and Administrator, Union Territory, Chandigarh. Hon’ble Mr. Justice S.S. Nijjar, Administrative Judge of the Chandigarh Sessions Division, Hon’ble Mr. Justice Mehtab S.Gill Chariman, Building Committee of the New Judicial Court Complex also graced the dais.  Other dignitaries present on the dais were Shri Lalit Sharma, Adviser to the Governor of Punjab, Shri Krishana Mohan , Home Secretary, U.T, Chandigarh, Shri S.K. Sandhu, Finance Secretary, Chandigarh, Shri B.S. Mehandiratta, District & Sessions Judge, Chandigarh and Shri N.K. Nanda, President, District Bar Association, Chandigarh. 

            The presence of Hon’ble Judges of the High Court lent dignity to the function.

      On behalf of the Chandigarh Administration Shri V.K. Bhardwaj, Chief Engineer, Shri R.K. Rao, Deputy Commissioner, Shri S.K. Jain, Inspector General of Police, Shri Kishanjit Singh, Superintending Engineer, U.T., Chandigarh were present.  Other officers of the Administration and Police Department contributed towards making the occasion a success.      

The Executive Members of the District Bar Association, Chandigarh accompanied by Lawyers also came present.  Shri R.S. Cheema, Advocate General, Punjab, Shri Anmol Rattan Sidhu, President, Bar Association of Hon’ble High Court of Punjab & Haryana, Shri Lekh Raj Sharma, Secretary, Bar Council of Punjab & Haryana and Shri B.S. Billing, Member, Bar Council were also present.       

         The details of the proposed Judicial Complex were explained to the dignitaries by Ms Sunita Monga, Chief Architect.

            Hon’ble Mr. Justice S.S. Nijjar welcomed the guests. Hon’ble the Chief Justice and H.E. Governor of Punjab addressed the gathering. Hon’ble Mr. Justice Mehtab Singh Gill presented a vote of thanks. The Bar presented mementoes to the Chief Guest and other dignitaries.

            After the function was over, the guests were served with refreshments.
